Q: Why do you love beer?

A: Beer is a great conduit for experiencing new places, connecting with history, hanging out with friends, and unwinding after a long week.

Q: What kind of beer are you brewing? 

A: My brewing partner Byron suggested we make English styles this year. They are an Extra Special Bitter (ESB) called Bittered Toast and a Rye Pale Ale called Partially Successful Pale. For the ESB I oven toasted 1/3rd of the malt bill to get it extra toasty. For the Pale I attempted a step mash to get the most out of the rye malt, which was well... not entirely successful.

Q: Are you brewing in honor of anyone? Would you like to say anything about their story?

A: The parents of my brewing partner and idea man Byron Anway.

Q: Are you new to brewing or an experienced hand? How long have you been brewing for KFTC?

A: This will be my 13th KFTC
